Privacy & Identity Verification Policy

Matured Matchmaking & Dating Services respects the privacy of our members and is committed to protecting the personal information entrusted to us.

Effective Date: September 25, 2026

Last Updated: September 25, 2026

Matured Matchmaking & Dating Services ("Matured Matchmaking," "we," "us," or "our") respects the privacy of our members and is committed to protecting the personal information entrusted to us.

Because matchmaking requires people to share personal information about themselves and the type of relationship they are looking for, we take privacy, confidentiality and identity verification seriously.

This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices available to our members.

1. Information We May Collect

Depending on the services you use, we may collect information such as:

  • full name;
  • age and date of birth;
  • email address and telephone number;
  • city, province/state and country;
  • photographs;
  • occupation or general employment information;
  • relationship status;
  • information about your interests, lifestyle and preferences;
  • information about the type of person or relationship you are seeking;
  • communications between you and Matured Matchmaking;
  • payment and transaction information;
  • identity-verification information; and
  • other information you voluntarily provide as part of the matchmaking process.

Some information supplied in connection with matchmaking may be particularly sensitive. We will only collect information we reasonably need to provide our services, protect our members, operate our business or comply with applicable law.

2. Why We Collect Personal Information

We may use personal information to:

  • create and manage membership accounts;
  • verify identity and age;
  • assess potential matches;
  • introduce compatible members;
  • communicate with members;
  • administer payments;
  • investigate complaints, suspected fraud or misuse of the service;
  • protect the safety and integrity of the Matured Matchmaking community;
  • prevent duplicate, fraudulent or impersonation accounts;
  • improve our services;
  • maintain necessary business records; and
  • comply with applicable legal requirements.

We will not use personal information for a materially different purpose without obtaining appropriate consent unless permitted or required by law.

3. Government-Issued Identification

To help reduce fake profiles, impersonation and dating scams, Matured Matchmaking may require members to complete identity and age verification before their account becomes active or before certain matchmaking services are provided.

Acceptable identification may include:

  • driver's licence;
  • provincial or territorial photo identification card;
  • passport; or
  • another reliable government-issued photo identification document that we accept.

We will not normally request a Social Insurance Number (SIN).

Where reasonably possible, we will use government identification only to confirm information such as:

  • identity;
  • name;
  • age/date of birth;
  • photograph; and
  • whether the identification appears valid.

4. Our ID-Minimization Approach

Our objective is to verify a member's identity without unnecessarily retaining copies of highly sensitive identification documents.

Where practical, after verification we will record only the information reasonably necessary to document the verification, such as:

Identity Verified - [Date]

We do not intend to retain a complete copy of a passport, driver's licence or other government identification longer than reasonably necessary for the verification process, unless retention is required for a legitimate legal, security, fraud-prevention or dispute-resolution purpose.

Where an ID image is no longer required, it will be securely deleted or destroyed in accordance with our retention procedures.

Information appearing on identification that is not required for verification should not be collected, recorded or used unnecessarily.

5. Verified Member Status

A member who successfully completes our identity-verification process may receive a "Verified Member," "Identity Verified," checkmark, badge or similar designation.

A verification badge means only that Matured Matchmaking has taken reasonable steps to verify certain identity information provided by the member.

It does not mean that Matured Matchmaking has verified or guarantees the person's:

  • character;
  • honesty;
  • intentions;
  • relationship or marital status;
  • employment;
  • income or financial position;
  • criminal history;
  • medical history;
  • immigration status;
  • compatibility;
  • conduct; or
  • suitability as a romantic partner.

Members must continue to use appropriate judgment and safety precautions when communicating with or meeting another person.

6. Sharing Information With Potential Matches

Matchmaking necessarily involves sharing some member information with potential matches.

Depending on the service selected and the member's consent, we may share information such as:

  • first name or preferred name;
  • age or age range;
  • photograph;
  • general location;
  • occupation or profession;
  • interests;
  • relationship goals; and
  • other profile information intended for potential matches.

We will not provide another member with a copy of your government-issued identification.

We will not intentionally publish information such as your identification-document number, payment information or other information that is not reasonably necessary for matchmaking.

7. Photographs and Marketing

Photographs supplied for matchmaking purposes will not automatically be treated as permission for Matured Matchmaking to use those photographs in advertisements, social-media promotions, testimonials or other marketing.

Separate permission should be obtained before identifiable member photographs, videos, testimonials or success stories are used for promotional purposes.

A member may decline marketing consent without losing access to the core matchmaking service, unless the particular content was separately and voluntarily supplied for promotional use.

8. Third-Party Service Providers

We may use reputable service providers to assist with services such as:

  • website hosting;
  • payment processing;
  • communications;
  • cybersecurity;
  • cloud storage; or
  • identity verification.

Where personal information is handled by a service provider, we will take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate privacy and security protections are in place.

Some service providers may process or store information outside the member's province or outside Canada. Where applicable, information may therefore be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction where it is processed.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we hold.

These may include access controls, passwords, encryption where appropriate, secure storage, restricted staff access and other reasonable security measures.

No online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and members should also protect their passwords and personal information.

10. Retention and Destruction

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected or as required or permitted by law.

Different categories of information may have different retention periods.

When personal information is no longer required, we will securely delete, destroy or anonymize it as appropriate.

11. Privacy or Security Incidents

If Matured Matchmaking becomes aware of a privacy or security incident involving personal information, we will assess the incident and take reasonable steps to contain it and reduce potential harm.

Where applicable law requires notification or reporting, we will notify affected individuals and/or the appropriate privacy authority.

12. Access and Correction

Members may contact us to request access to personal information we hold about them or to request correction of inaccurate information, subject to applicable legal limitations.

We may need to verify the identity of the person making the request before releasing personal information.

13. Withdrawal of Consent

Where processing is based on consent, a member may withdraw consent subject to legal, contractual and reasonable notice requirements.

Withdrawal of certain consent may affect our ability to continue providing matchmaking services where the information is necessary to provide those services.

14. Account Closure

Members may request closure of their account.

Closing an account does not necessarily require immediate deletion of every business record. We may retain limited information where reasonably necessary for legal obligations, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, security, financial recordkeeping or other legitimate purposes permitted by law.

15. Privacy Contact
